human cloaking, invisibility, light bendingScientists in the US say they are a step closer to developing materials that could render people invisible.

Researchers at the University of California in Berkeley have developed a material that can bend light around 3D objects making them “disappear”.

The materials do not occur naturally but have been created on a nano scale, measured in billionths of a metre.

The team says the principles could one day be scaled up to make invisibility cloaks large enough to hide people.

Read about it the other day. Really hope that we’ll be able to see it within the next decade. But I suspect that it’ll be more for military use initially.

As one of the above commenter said, “Think of the mischief!” It is already creepy enough having to worry about people spying on you with cameras at dressing or public bathrooms, but image if they follow you home? You would never know they are there.

This is pretty cool. But as others have said I’m sure it will be used mostly for military use. It seems like it would not be something they would want released to the public.

  17. cin Says:

Think of the mischief? More like “think of the mayhem”.
I think it’s really scary because inevitably it will get into the hands of “the wrong guy”.
